10 Tips for Building an Enjoyable Journaling Ritual

Journaling is not a chore. It is a joyful practice that can be a part of your self-care, a part of your me-time, a part of your unwinding rituals, and a part of your creative expression. Here are 10 ways to build a journaling habit & actually enjoy your journaling practice

  1. Build a Routine: Make journaling a part of your daily routine. Whether it's sunrise or bedtime, create a dedicated slot. Attach this habit to an existing habit like drinking tea in the morning or post skin-care regimen at night to make it easier.

  2. Start with just a sentence: You will find it hard to sustain a habit if you force yourself to write 5 pages every day at the start. Go easy on yourself. Begin with a sentence or two everyday. And slowly build your practice.

  3. Find your style of journaling: There are different kinds of journaling methods, for different kinds of folks. Find what clicks. It could be gratitude journaling, or bullet journaling, or art journaling, or introspecting with cues. Go with what feels right. We'd recommend trying the 5-in-1 guided journal - The Journey - to explore different kinds of journaling to find your flow.

  4. Keep it Visible: Place your journal where you can see it. A visual cue helps keep the habit on your radar. Maybe on your bedside table? Or next to your teabags? The point of it is to nudge you at the time when you are most likely to pick it up.

  5. Set Reminders: Set a gentle nudge on your phone. A little reminder goes a long way.

  6. No Daily Pressure: If every day feels heavy, go weekly or every few days. You decide what works for you. Flexibility keeps it stress-free.

  7. No Guilt Allowed: Journaling isn't a chore. Drop the guilt. It's a self-care habit. You shouldn't stress about it!

  8. Journaling Buddy: Share the journey. Connect with a friend or a community. Shared experiences add joy. E-mail us at journalpersonindia@gmail.com and we will add you to our journaling community on Whatsapp

  9. Celebrate Wins: Every entry is a win. Celebrate your thoughts, victories, and the commitment to your journaling journey.

  10. Read Old Entries: When you don't feel like journaling, go back and read your previous entries, or your old journals. It might just motivate you to pick up the pen.

Be a journal person and embrace meaning, purpose & joy!
